I’ve decided to create a thread where people can ask questions about map building that they may have, and I could try to answer them.

Please keep the questions simple, and not just asking me to script an entire map-script for you. :slight_smile:

How to make tweening in FE2 map test?
I’m sorry I’m bad at scripting xD

Tweening is very complex, but this is how you’d make a simple tween.

local tweenservice = game:GetService("TweenService")

local part = Lib.Map.Part -- Location of part

local tweeninfo = TweenInfo.new(
  2, -- time of tween in seconds
  Enum.EasingStyle.Bounce -- Easing style of the tweeninfo
  Enum.EasingDirection.Out -- Easing Direction of the tweeninfo
  0, -- number of times it will repeat
  false, -- will it repeat?
  0, -- delay between each repeat
)

local partProperties = {
    Size = Vector3.new(5,5,5) -- Size of the part
    Color = Color3.fromRGB(255,0,0) -- Color of part (Red in this case)
    Transparency = 0 -- Transparency of part
}

local Tween = tweenservice:Create(part, tweeninfo, partProperties) -- set up the tween
Tween:Play() -- now play!

Edit: I forgot to mention to place everything above “local Tween” before all of your scripts in the EventScript/EventString for you to be able to use it. But, always place “local Tween” and below after it.

Technically, scripting is apart of map building, and some people may or may not have seen your in-depth tutorial.

I appreciate the reply, but they did ask a question, and I just responded to it. That’s all that needs to be done!

There are actually many great plugins that help with terrain creating, and map building as a whole.

Here are some basic building plugins that almost every builder should have:





All of these are insanely useful when it comes to outdoor terrain, so you don’t have to manually do everything yourself.

Also, with your second question for a facility map, those maps are a little over-used in the case where they aren’t really that original anymore. Maybe come up with a fresh new idea for everyone to enjoy!

Try to think outside of the box constantly!

If you can’t think of an idea for a map, think about maps in FE2 already, and try to work around those themes to create something original of your own!

If this doesn’t help, then turn to the community, since we’re always happy to try to help you make maps!

Try to stay inspired while making a map.

Such as thinking:

“What can I achieve from this?”

“How can I improve this area of the map?”

“What can make my map unique?”

“What will make my map idea stand out from others?”

Doing this will make you more motivated to do better in the long run, and improve your skills mentally and physically. :slight_smile:

I suggest not to use landscape plugin and tree generator plugin. Those might be worse than what you can make and it makes you lazier

Hello! I need a small scripting tip, when i make a moving door as a PART in my map, it’s functioning perfectly, but when i make it a MODEL, it does not move at all. What should i do?

Move each part of the model, the moveWater script don’t move the model
